Judicial Mental Health Advisory Committee

The Judicial Mental Health Advisory Committee was established by the Supreme Court in May of 2024.  The Committee was charged with the tasks of establishing a centralized space for judicial officers and stakeholders to collaborate, develop best practices for competent to stand trial (CST), and promote a comprehensive mental health strategy for the Colorado courts. The Judicial Mental Health Advisory Committee Order was signed in May of 2024.

The Judicial Mental Health Advisory Committee currently has three subcommittees:

Statewide Evaluation Subcommittee

Focus: Development of best practices and principles for competency diversion and competency court dockets.

Civil Pathways and Partners   

Focus: To partner with outside entities to address system barriers and identify civil pathways from the criminal system.

Education 

Focus: Education for Judicial Officers and other professionals.
